Association of TESOL Distance Course Providers

The ACTDEC Association (of TESOL Distance Course Providers) has been established to attain objectives of interest to members of this profession. The following is a list of possible objectives for consideration. Council will be glad to hear from anyone with comment or suggestions.

To improve the Practice of TESOL distance learning and training.
To strengthen accredited TESOL distance providers' sense of identity as members of a highly respected professional group.
To foster the exchange of ideas, resources, information and experiences amongst distance providers.
To promote the concept that distance training is not necessarily a second choice for those seeking a course of training but a real way ahead, with distinct advantages and a viable alternative to face-to-face teaching.
To further the development of the teaching practice portfolio scheme for holders of ACTDEC certificates.
To promote high standards of in-service training within the portfolio scheme.
To foster and promote scholarship and research related to the development of distance material.
To provide, through the association, a financially advantageous and reliable method for getting essential and indicative reading lists and material to their trainees.
To offer a regular forum for the introduction and exchange of new ideas and practices and for the production of distance material.
To foster and protect ACTDEC accredited members' professional interests within the education system of the country.
To represent ACTDEC accredited members in dealing with Government and other official bodies or associations e.g. the British Council, the DfES, the new ILA scheme etc.
