Performance Indicators for ACTDEC Accreditation

The following are derived from the code of practice

Code of Practice Category Possible Performance Indicators and Documentation
1. Publicity, advertising and pre-course information. Publicity material for the institution and course, e.g. prospectus, web site details etc.
Course documentation
2. Selection and admission of participants. Statement of admission procedures.
Enrolment documentation, e.g. application forms. Participant enrolment forms.
3. Statement of purpose. Documentation of course aims, e.g. published syllabus and regulations, course handbook.
4. Course process. Information given to participants on teaching approach.
5. Course structure, syllabus content and length. List of topics covered.
Syllabus content.
Description of course structure, e.g. number of course units with titles, breakdown of units into module descriptions, main and supplementary media (representative selection of sample modules, compact discs, cassettes and/or videos). Description of procedures for trainees and distance tutors, methodological approach (e.g. input material divided into units followed by tutor-assessed assignments or e.g. interactive module input materials incorporating self-assessment tasks leading to tutor-assessed activity worksheets, etc.). Number of trainee study hours required to complete course and method(s) used to complete study hours.
6. Progress and assessment. Statement of assessment procedures. Examples of assessment methods. Institutional marking policy document. Examples of marksheets on participants' work. Examination and coursework results. Statement of appeal procedure and record of appeals.
7. Course administration. Organisational diagram of rôles relating to the course.
Relevant job descriptions, e.g. Course Director of Studies, distance marking tutors, internal moderators, etc.
Minutes of course committee.
Examples of participants' records.
Example of institution's own ACTDEC validated certificates.
8. Staffing. CVs of relevant staff.
Induction information for new tutorial staff.
Staff development policy documents.
9. Facilities. Information on institutional facilities.
10. Communication with sponsors. Course progress reports for sponsors.
Course reports for sponsors.
Individual participant reports.
11. Welfare. Orientation documentation given to participants (e.g. course participant getting in touch schemes [with each other, with course tutors], counseling services).
12. Course evaluation and quality assurance. Identification of rôles and responsibilities for quality assurance.
Evaluation data from students.

Note. When submitting an application for course accreditation please mark each 'Code of Practice' category clearly. The use of clear plastic sleeves or a large envelope for each category is helpful. Remember that two copies of everything are required for each submission.
