ACTDEC Accreditation Panel
The Accreditation Panel is appointed by Council and will consist of not more than three members, none of whom will normally be involved in the day-to-day running of any member institution. Panel members will be suitably qualified and have experience in the field of TESOL distance learning and training. The Chair of the Panel will adjudicate the work of the Panel, and report to the Council. The Accreditation Panel will be funded from accreditation fees supplemented where necessary from course subscription fees.
The duties of the Accreditation Panel are:
- to work in sub-panels of two
- to inspect documentary submissions made by institutions applying for accreditation
- to complete an Accreditation Report for each course included in the submission
- to offer advice to institutions where appropriate, e.g. prior to or post submission
- to communicate or meet at appropriate intervals to review accreditation outcomes, confer over referred applications, and review the accreditation procedure
- to visit institutions, where appropriate, in order to offer advice regarding unresolved areas in their submissions
In the latter case travelling and other expenses will be paid by the institution.
The duties of the Panel Chair are:
- to allocate panel members to sub-panels for each application for accreditation
- to read and assess the outcome of accreditation reports
- to report to Council on accreditation outcomes
- to notify applying institutions on accreditation outcomes through the Secretary or Council
